* Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility are core values that we uphold in our performance art residency program, and we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all emerging artists. We are proud of the collaboration between Habitat Contemporary Gallery and The Wires Alternative String Duo, who share commitment to these values.

History:

The program began with The Wires Alternative String Duo, as our first performance art residence, during the summer of 2022. The first concert was held on August 13th, 2022. They committed to six concert series thereafter. Each concert coincided with the closing receptions of Habitat Contemporary Gallery, and they composed new songs inspired by visual artists being exhibited through the gallery. After their residency ended, they felt so strongly that the benefits of this program should live on, and help raise other artists in this field, that they partnered with Habitat Contemporary Gallery to steward the program.
